Every Journey Starts with a Single
Step Hypoglycemia, commonly called low blood sugar, is a giant step on the road toward adult onset or Type II diabetes. Hypoglycemia is a silent villain. Do you suffer from any of the following symptoms: sudden mood changes, drowsiness after meals, sleepiness, irritability after intake of foods? If so, you may be suffering from hypoglycemia and headed down a dangerous road. Hypoglycemia leads to long-term exhaustion of the pancreas which eventually will cause adult onset diabetes. Type II diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in America... it’s virtually bankrupting many HMOs. It’s a very serious matter that may begin with numbness in your feet... and lead to other serious health problems including obesity and blindness. Are you hypoglycemic? Here’s a quick and reliable self-test: Count your pulse for one minute before a meal. Eat the meal and then 30 minutes after, take your pulse again for one minute. If it’s 8-10 beats less than before eating, you may be hypoglycemic. I would also encourage you to buy or borrow a blood pressure cuff and take your blood pressure while sitting at rest. Then stand up and take your blood pressure after 15 seconds of standing. If your blood pressure fails to rise 10 points on both numbers you may have exhaustion of the adrenals due to hypoglycemia which is a health condition in need of immediate attention. One solution for many is to increase the nutrients in your diet, including magnesium, calcium, chromium and antioxidants. It’s also important to always eat meals that contain at least 40% protein. That’s an amount roughly the size of the palm of your hand. Green vegetables and fat should account for another 40%... add a portion about the size of the fingers of your hand. The remaining 20% should be high quality carbohydrates. No bananas, rice, potatoes or sugar products should be consumed in large quantities, or alone. Another good rule is to never let yourself be hungry. Eat small meals throughout the day. Again, these should be rich in quality protein, vegetables, and healthy fat... i.e. fat and oils that are liquid at room temperature. Now there is the new release of a TaeBo Select product from Malibu Naturals called Carb-Lo. This supplement contains an ingredient called GLUCOSOL which has been shown to help stabilize blood sugar.
